What this list is — and what it is not
- It is: surgeons holding a current state licence, registered under a plastic-surgery specialty in the federal NPI registry (NPPES, run by CMS). Names, NPI numbers and licence numbers come straight from that public record.
- It is not: a list of board-certified surgeons, a ranking, a recommendation, or a vetted panel. The federal registry proves licence and declared specialty — it does not prove board certification. We do not claim what we cannot verify.
- Before you book: confirm board certification directly with the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and check the surgeon's licence status with your state medical board.

Before you book: check any surgeon yourself
A directory listing is a starting point, not a vetting. These four checks take a few minutes each and are the ones that actually matter — do them for any surgeon you are seriously considering.
Confirm board certification
A state licence is the minimum, not a qualification. Confirm the surgeon is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery — the board recognised for plastic surgery — and not merely “board-certified” in an unrelated specialty.
Check the licence with the state medical board
Look up the licence number with the medical board in the state where you will have surgery. Confirm it is current and active, and check for any disciplinary actions on record.
Match the federal NPI record
Cross-check the NPI number in the federal registry (NPPES). The name, location and plastic-surgery specialty should all match the surgeon you are seeing — a mismatch is a reason to pause.
Ask the right questions at the consultation
Ask where the procedure is performed (an accredited surgical facility), whether the surgeon holds hospital privileges for it, and how many they have done. A qualified surgeon answers all three plainly.
